Her Hygiene
*Founded by Akshita Jha in 2019*
Her Hygiene Project is a grassroots initiative started by Akshita Jha to promote menstrual health and hygiene among underprivileged girls in rural Bihar, India. Since its inception, the project has adopted 20 government girls’ schools across remote regions, where sanitary pads are distributed every month and awareness sessions are conducted on menstrual hygiene, reproductive health, and general wellness.
To date, the project has distributed over **200,000 sanitary pads**, directly impacting the lives of thousands of young girls and helping reduce school absenteeism during menstrual cycles.
Akshita, the founder, is currently pursuing **Biomedical Engineering and Computer Science** at the **Georgia Institute of Technology**, Atlanta, USA. Despite her academic commitments, she continues to mentor the project and remains deeply connected to its mission of empowering girls through health and dignity.
Sewing machine Training
The KCS Foundation has made a significant impact on the lives of women and girls by providing training on sewing machines. Through this training, the foundation has empowered 642 women and girls to develop a new skill that they can use to earn a livelihood. The results of the training have been positive, with 120 women now self-employed and earning a decent income each month.
This initiative highlights the foundation's commitment to empowering women and girls and providing them with the skills and resources they need to succeed. The training has not only helped these women and girls improve their financial situations but also given them a sense of pride and independence. The foundation's efforts to train women and girls in sewing and support their self-employment is an example of how it is working to make a positive impact in the lives of those it serves.
Bright Minds Science Laboratory
Bright Minds Laboratory, founded by Year 10 student Amay Ahuja of Jumeirah College, Dubai, is a fully equipped, composite science lab designed to serve underprivileged schoolchildren. By providing hands-on access to modern physics, chemistry, biology, and mathematics experiments, the initiative empowers students with practical skills, ignites curiosity, and fosters a deeper understanding of STEM concepts—opening doors to brighter futures.
Books Beyond Borders
Books Beyond Borders Library, founded by Ali, a Year 7 student from Dubai, is a free community library dedicated to underprivileged children. By offering a diverse collection of age-appropriate books, storytelling sessions, and reading programs, the initiative nurtures literacy, sparks imagination, and bridges educational gaps—empowering young learners with the joy of reading and lifelong knowledge.
Whiteboard Schools
Whiteboard School, founded in 2020 by Mohammed Husain of Dubai College, is an after-school learning center supporting 1,300 underprivileged students. Offering focused instruction in mathematics, science, and English, it provides extra academic assistance outside regular school hours—boosting confidence, closing learning gaps, and fostering long-term success.
