Her Hygiene
*Founded by Akshita Jha in 2019*
Her Hygiene Project is a grassroots initiative started by Akshita Jha to promote menstrual health and hygiene among underprivileged girls in rural Bihar, India. Since its inception, the project has adopted 20 government girls’ schools across remote regions, where sanitary pads are distributed every month and awareness sessions are conducted on menstrual hygiene, reproductive health, and general wellness.
To date, the project has distributed over **200,000 sanitary pads**, directly impacting the lives of thousands of young girls and helping reduce school absenteeism during menstrual cycles.
Akshita, the founder, is currently pursuing **Biomedical Engineering and Computer Science** at the **Georgia Institute of Technology**, Atlanta, USA. Despite her academic commitments, she continues to mentor the project and remains deeply connected to its mission of empowering girls through health and dignity.
